Big Bang Days Spark Excitement Across Early Years and Key Stage 1
This week, children across Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed a series of exciting Big Bang Days, launching their new topics with creativity, curiosity and plenty of enthusiasm.
Reception pupils began their new topic, “What is a Shadow?”, with a fantastic day of exploration focused on night and day. The children shared their new core text, Owl Babies, and arrived at school dressed as nocturnal and diurnal animals, creating a wonderful buzz throughout the classrooms. It was a joyful and engaging introduction to their learning.
Year 1 pupils arrived to a surprise when The Naughty Bus struck overnight, leaving chaos across the classroom and even around the school. The children quickly became investigators, using iPads to collect evidence, search for clues and piece together what had happened. This exciting start perfectly launched their new topic, “How did people travel long ago?”, inspiring curiosity and teamwork.
Year 2 also enjoyed an unforgettable Big Bang Day, supported by @timecapsule. As part of their new topic, “If you discovered a dragon egg, what would you do?”, the children took on the role of dragon hunters for the day. Imagination and excitement filled the classrooms as pupils fully immersed themselves in their new learning.
These Big Bang Days provided an inspiring start to the term, capturing the children’s interest and setting the stage for rich learning experiences across the school.
