Partnerships

We are pleased to be part of 'The Quarry' development in the heart of the Erith community and working in partnership with parents, carers, residents and local businesses. We value our partnerships and by working with and listening to our community, we will deliver an education to our children that will create life-long learners. We believe deeply in the importance of nurturing strong partnerships with our local communities and beyond.

Our school, alongside our other Trust schools, is integrating Apple technology into every aspect of teaching and learning so that children can access their curriculum in a way that supports them individually.  Our staff benefit from personalised training linked to our curriculum topics to ensure that the digital technology benefits and aids children’s learning within a given topic.

We are delighted to announce that the Woodland Academy Trust has been recognised as the Apple Regional Training Centre (RTC) for Kent and Bexley! For more information, click here to visit our Trust website.

We work in close partnership with the University of Greenwich; particularly linked to their Initial Teacher Training programme whereby we will offer university placements for student teachers as well as professional development days.  Our staff provide student teachers with professional learning by offering a wide range of experiences and opportunities to reflect on pedagogical practice and spending time in the classrooms to see the lived experience in action.

The University of Greenwich has benefitted from the strong partnership established with The Woodlands Academy Trust over many years.  The university organises professional development days each year that offer an opportunity for students to benefit from the expertise and deeper understanding of key pedagogical themes pertinent to their professional teaching development. The trust has a history of working in close partnership with the university by hosting groups of students across their schools, , as well as generously offering to participate in live sessions online and sharing high quality resources.  The impact of this has been substantial with students reporting how much their subject knowledge has developed by learning from the experience and expertise of members of the trust.  It has been a genuine pleasure working together.

Our school is a member of Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised which is a complete systematic synthetic phonics programme (SSP) developed for schools by schools.  The programme is based on the original Letters and Sounds but has been revised to provide schools with a complete teaching programme (meeting expectations of the National Curriculum), the Ofsted deep dive into reading and preparing children to go beyond the expectations of the phonics screening check.

Our Headteacher has recently worked with Paul Dix and his team to evaluate, reflect, and refine our Trust schools’ approach to relationships and behaviour and this knowledge and experience is shared with Lime Wood Primary School. This is a whole school community approach which involves all stakeholders within the process to further enhance relationships and best support our children through a restorative approach.

Time Capsule provide our school with a wide range of educational experiences all linked to our bespoke curriculum. It is an immersive platform used to support our Big Bang Days, which launch new topics at the beginning of each half term. This is an overwhelmingly positive experience for our children and provides them with an exciting starting point to new knowledge and skills.

Our school has been given the opportunity to take part in a project that runs jointly between schools and the Metropolitan Police.

Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools by police prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has been exposed to, or involved in, any domestic incident involving police intervention.

Operation Encompass will ensure that a member of the school staff - the Designated Safeguarding Lead - is trained to allow liaison with the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence, whilst ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been involved in, or exposed to, a domestic abuse incident.

As a school, we are keen to offer the best support possible to all of our pupils and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.

We are delighted to be working with our local football club - Erith Town FC.  They will be utilising our fantastic facilities and providing our community of children and families with opportunities to engage in local events run by the team.

We are delighted to be working with Bexley Local Authority and the London Mayor's Office Violence Reduction Team on the Talk Matters project.

You can find out more information about their work by following the link below:

VRU London City Hall

The Talk Matters programme has been developed in recognition of the vital partnership that is crucial to provide better support for young Londoners so that they are safe and can thrive in school.  We, alongside, 34 other primary schools across 7 boroughs are taking part and our focus is all about improving speech, language and communication needs.   We are seeking to improve early language development, wellbeing and school engagement because we know early identification of communication needs can reduce the likelihood of school exclusion as well as keeping vulnerable children safe.

We will be embarking on an Oracy project which we look forward to sharing more information about soon.

In Spring 2024, we entered a national competition to share our approaches in our opening year.  Whilst we were not successful we think our video was fantastic!  Take a look.  Fingers crossed we will be successful in the future!

We are delighted to partner with JG Football Academy.  Our facilities are used by the academy to run a range of football training opportunities catering for children from Reception to Year 11 as well as adults and seniors.
