A Wonderful Week Watching Chicks Hatch!

This week has been full of excitement and curiosity as the children took part in a truly memorable experience—watching the incredible journey from egg to chick. From the moment the eggs arrived, there was a real sense of anticipation in the school, with the children eagerly checking in each day to see if there had been any changes.

As the week progressed, the children were fascinated to learn about the different stages of the life cycle. They observed the eggs carefully and when the first cracks began to appear, the excitement grew, and it was a very special moment for everyone when the chicks finally started to hatch. Seeing these tiny, fragile chicks emerge was both magical and unforgettable.

This hands-on experience provided a fantastic opportunity for the children to deepen their understanding of the natural world. They learned about the importance of patience, as hatching takes time, and about care and responsibility as they discussed how to look after the chicks properly. It also encouraged lots of thoughtful questions and conversations, helping to develop their curiosity and language skills.

Towards the end of the week, the children had the chance to help care for the chicks. They learned about what the chicks need to stay healthy, including warmth, food, and gentle handling. The children showed great kindness and respect, taking turns to carefully hold and cuddle the chicks under close supervision. These moments brought so much joy and helped to build confidence as well as empathy.

As the week came to an end, it was time to say goodbye. Although it was a bittersweet moment, the children felt proud to have been part of such a special experience. They loved every minute of watching the chicks grow and were happy to send them off to their new homes, knowing they had been well cared for.
